John Duval, Entity
Entity is a wine true to the Barossa Valley, variety and vintage. The more subtle French oak is chosen to compliment the ripe blackberry, blueberry fruit. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques are employed with Entity, allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but with ample structure and fruit depth to allow great potential for improvement in the bottle under good cellaring conditions.
Colour: Dense ruby purple
Nose: Youthful blackberry, blueberry fruit complexed with savory French oak.
Palate: Rich and generous with good concentration of dark fruit. Tannins are fine, ripe and balanced. The structure has restrained power but remains elegant and finished with excellent fruit intensity.
The fruit for Entity is sourced from the Barossa including the Krondorf, Greenock, Tanunda, Light Pass and Eden Valley Regions. Yields average 2 t/acre, on vvarious, soil types including; sandy loan over clay & red brown earth over clay.
The winemaking technique used includes Fermentation with submerged cap and small
open stainless steel fermenters. 100% barrel maturated for 16-18 months, with approximately one third in new fine grain French oak hogsheads (300 litre barrels); with the balance 3-6 year old barrels.
